"Guns should only be with those responsible and respectful enough to wield one." - BabySnakes

Well how the hell are we going to prove that someone is "responsible and respectful"???

Mr. Gun Owner might seem perfectly responsible and respectful at the time of purchasing his shiny new gun. A truly upstanding citizen with a clean record...

But what the hell is going to happen when he finds his wife banging the pool man?... or gets into a fit of road rage at a stranger?... or gets laid off and depressed and wants to shoot his boss?... or his child finds the safe open and shoots himself in the mouth?

Of course in an ideal world all the good guys would have the weapons. But human behavior is completely unpredictable, and all of these tragedies prove exactly that.

    • That is what i was saying.BabySnakes
    • You have to go deeper. the quality of person matters deeply in a free society. its might not cure all, there is no cure all. look at licenses for driving.yurimon
    • a 2 ton projectile that can hurl at 70-100 miles per hour. you drive a car with an assumption of trust that the licensing scheme has solved the problem ofyurimon
    • weeding out bad drivers. you dont know who is who around you, statistic are more geared toward an accident then being shot over all.yurimon
    • It does represent the ultimate responsibility anyone could ever have.yurimon
