My experience is they produce less heat but doubt that is going to help with your problem. Be hard for background software to cause overheats (especially not gaming).... I'm leaning more towards hardware failure. Get a fan monitor and check to see if fans are running at normal speeds.... I've recently had to gear down my OC at home because it looks like my CPU fan isn't running where it should be. Fans break. And my experience with my 2010 macbook is the fans seem to run whenever they fuckin want with no rhyme or reason so it might not be CPU but GPU thing.... Can always open it up and pop the processor and lay down some arctic 5 thermal paste if its not the fans.... Or is 2011 the glued style books that you cant really open up and fix?....

    • Never heard of arctic 5 thermal paste. I will look into it. Thanks!hotroddy
