munich and berlin are two extremes when it comes to big cities in germany.

the cliché, which has some truth to it, breaks down to this: berlin is rather dirty, big, chaotic, fucked-up, poor, hip, ugly, not-really-germany and constantly changing and self questioning.
munich tends to be clean, well ordered, posh, rich, conservative, confident, proud, german (sorry: bavarian!).

I’ve been to munich several times and I always found it to be refreshing (coming from berlin): ticket machines in the subway give change to 20 euro bills! trains arrive on time! you don’t get constantly begged for a cigarette or a few cents! no drugged up party tourists pissing in your doorway at 2 pm on a sunday! no army of idiotic 22 year old hipsters trying to out-cool each other! the air is so much fresher! munich has beer gardens, the socially accepted way to get pissed in the middle of the day. it has the isar, a river that has been renaturated, running through the middle of the city, which is an amazing place to chill. in an hour or two you can go hiking or skiing in the beautiful nature of the alps.

FUCK, WHY AM I STILL STUCK IN THIS SHITHOLE?

    • Because the Munich creative/advertising... scene is nowhere near Berlin's level. ;)Continuity
