Had a great vacation there recently. My friends who live there showed me around some of the non-touristy areas, and it's actually an up-and-coming place for young professionals. The old neighborhoods in the Garden District are starting to feel a little "cool" and contemporary, something that is apparently new to this old area.
I can't wait to go back and explore their big park, join in on a second line parade, and eat more of that fried awesomeness.
