I know the black community is upset for being treated like a minority in the United States.

    My insensitive QBN comment here:
The fact they are a minority - is what allows them to have higher living standards then in the rest of the America's (Carribean, South America, portions of central america) - where the living standard is considerably lower because they are the majority.

    • I can see the logic that could lead someone to that conclusion, but I don't think the 2 things are as directly connected as you think they are...BuddhaHat
    • There are myriad reasons, both economic and social, which would go a lot further in explaining the disparity between blacks in the US and elsewhere...BuddhaHat
    • So African American's should be happy with the systemic racism they face daily because they're better off than Carribeans or South Americans?soundsinsilence
    • Blacks have made great efforts and strides to assimilate into american middle class but without a strong middlle they would have never have a chance.hotroddy
    • Anglo countries (former colonies) w european-descendants as majority have the largest middle class proportional to spanish, portugese, dutch and french colonieshotroddy
    • So yes- they should be stoked they are living within a prosperous minority and not q poor majorityhotroddy
    • ouch, nobody in the USA should be stoked they are passing with only minimum oppression, it goes against the whole nation's basis for existencemonospaced
    • on the other hand, more communities should take advantage of what little is provided, such as a school systemmonospaced
    • some of those school systems are a facade for jail. or a pipeline to it. take advantage of what?bklyndroobeki
    • I believe that is the fault of the students not the school. They turn it into a jail and don't take education seriously. I'm sure the teachers would love helpmonospaced
    • it's not the students fault, its a lot of things, the way kids are raised, and that goes back to lack of opportunities, social disadvantage, etc.Miguex
    • Yes some cultures don't take advantage of the opportunities and don't take school seriously. It surely isn't exactly the school itself.monospaced
