What's even more fascinating about climate change is how it demonstrates a consistent stupidity of a portion of human beings.
Everyone fits along a spectrum in regards to this. You've got eco-activists on the one end, and climate change deniers on the other. In the middle you have the vast majority of people who may or ma not care about conservation, and may or may not change their behaviour or demand change from society to protect the environment.
What is most interesting to me are the climate change deniers that exist, even in this thread! It's like the Flat Earth Society! The rationalizing that they do is unbelievable. They claim we have no real evidence that humans contribute to climate change and then they use OTHER PLANETS as their examples? Amazing.
Although, I'm not sure they're any worse than the majority of us (myself included) who are aware of climate change, understand the basics of the science, and know we are contributing to it. And what do I do? I drive a bit less often, I try to buy nothing plastic (except of course when I want something like a computer or a pack of gum, lulz) I don't buy bottled water ...and I recycle? And like most people, I'm actually deluded enough to think I'm doing my part! Lulz.
As if those minor lifestyle changes are a solution. I'm not saying we shouldn't reduce our consumption. We must reduce, and at every opportunity. But it's going to take so much more than that to fix this problem. It will really take a massive global movement. It's our biggest challenge as a species, by far. Hoping and praying and recycling isn't going to do it.
