The built-in advertising is really ruining it, though. Writing scenes just so they can show off a product, a commercial within the show, takes you right out of it.

No spoilers, I promise: There's a scene where some generic lawyer-type character shows Dunbar the Jordan valley on his tablet. It's the worst scene, yet. Dunbar and her assistant look at him and the tablet with such intensity. He takes a moment to pause to show them a fucking map of Jordan. Dunbar is the Solicitor General of the USA, and he's like, "look at this picture of a map. Jordan. Ever hear of it? Didn't think so." She leans in, her eyes wide with amazement.

Then he says, "here, better yet" or something and walks around his office so that they can show a close-up of the tablet as he swipes the image from his tablet to his TV. Of course, we see the Samsung logo, and it's all done nice and slow. And Dunbar looks at the TV like WOW.

She is impressed. This man knows how to present information with visual aids. Let's hire him, on the spot. "When can you start?" she asks. "I think I just did", he replies all cool like the amazing man that he is.

Anyway, it's really awful, but I guess the show costs a lot of money and they need to pay the bills somehow.
