  Avoid propriety connections (like lightning, etc).

  They'll soon be dated and you'd be stuck with the expensive speaker system not fit for whatever connection your next gadget have.

  Instead put your money on a good hifi system,
  and add a relay that's more future ready. Say wifi.

  Gramofon, Jongo, etc, fill that role.
  Hooks up to a stereo. Stream from whatevs.
  And whenever wifi gets old just get the next relay system.
