The fallacy of electric cars is most regions need to burn more coal to generate the electricity, trading one fossil fuel for another. Sure, we need them, but it's not just the cars themselves that need better tech and testing.

    • Coal burning is less impact on environment than cars burning fuel on roadsmonospaced
    • Really. Show me the evidence. Projected with increase in electric cars correlating to decrease in gasoline.ETM
    • ...?ETM
    • Do you have the numbers on how many more coal burning plants may need to be built if EV meets critical mass?ETM
    • Any citations would be great. Otherwise we're all still guessing and can't say EV will be a saviour.ETM
    • Oh and as coal supplies dwindle due to increased damand, how much more electricity for everything could cost.ETM
    • cost us. No, there are far more implications than less gasoline engines on the roads.ETM
    • Actually to add, many plants are no NG instead of coal... which potentially means more fraking!ETM
    • *now NGETM
    • More fracking means more polluted water tables. And isn't fracking getting big in the NE?ETM
    • Sorry to be curt, but many people are not thinking further than their wall receptacle.ETM

    • I don't have the numbers here but I have heard this from good sources I know and it's why electric cars are such a big deal.monospaced
    • "Good sources"... okay. :/ETM
    • I am sure electric utilities are salivating at the prospect... you know, for the environment.ETM
    • thanks for poisoning my fish COAL!moldero
    • Yea great sources. You don't have to believe but this is the future. And the environmentalists all agree. Sorry.monospaced
    • So tell us a little more about the background of these sources?Josev
    • Nah. Just "trust" him. You'd think all these "reliable sources" would have published a few papers.ETM
    • "Good Sources" hahahahahahamarychain
