    It'd be one thing if YOU/YOUR COMPANY were also pitching to the client alongside the other company, and you BOTH have a new client if u win the pitch. However, you're helping ANOTHER company win a new client. They should be paying you for that work. This is an expense they should be incurring, costs of potentially getting themselves a new client. Don't do spec work. Who's to say that if they do win the client, that they'll be using you to develop the actual thing?
