Worth it but not for you. Also the current models can't feed a 5K screen because connection standard is too slow. Next round they'll have a new standard in it. Can't have a 5K iMac screen and a Pro computer that can't feed a 5K screen, can we? No, that's not very Pro.
$1500 iMac might be enough. Since you're just getting into it.
I'm a bit worried about buying those unnecessarily compact macs with standalone graphics cards. MacBook Pros have been failing from that. Have iMacs? Intel Integrated graphics doesn't have that defect.
