Currently After Effects doesn't really use OpenCL, which the new Mac Pros offer serious speed with courtesy of the two Fire GPUs. FCPX and other native Apple stuff runs like butter on it, but Adobe is still only supporting NVidia's CUDA architecture, which didn't pan out so well and I suspect is a dead-end feature on After Effects (besides, you'd need a $1K+ card to benefit from it).

The new Pro is still great but yes, it probably could use a refresh. I suspect that like most of Apple's other kit said refresh will depend largely on what Intel does — the previous Mac Pros never got Thunderbolt because Intel didn't support it with the high end chipsets those motherboards used. So who knows when an actual refresh will occur?
