D800, with a handful of fixed Nikon lenses.
Most common lens I use is the Nikkor 35mm f/2.

I've been on Nikon for years. The D700 is an amazing camera for low light if you don't need the MP. Sometimes I wish I had kept my D700 as a low light and snapshot/action camera. It's so good at ISO3200 and also it's fast and easy to focus. The D800 requires more careful shooting to get a good image, but when you do, the results are incredible.

I looked really hard at switching to Sony or Fuji because of the size of the cameras. First problem is the amount (and size/weight) of the glass available. The real problem with them is focusing. Auto focus is so slow on those little Sonys and manual focus is basically unusable on those viewfinders, in my opinion. Sometimes I need manual focus, for speed. And it's hard to give up fast autofocus. I tried a Sony A6000 because I really wanted a small camera for street photography, but the whole focusing/viewfinder system makes it impossible.

So, I lug around my D800.

    • maybe invest in a Fuji x100s for walk around and street stuff. people swear by them. I might pick one upHijoDMaite
