    @locustsloth I think thats the only feasible reason. The writers are too clever for that to have passed them by. How could Rick just follow some random, redneck looking guy all the way there without even explaining himself.

    Obviously this would ruin the story but why don't they just go to an island to setup base? Like Manhattan. A few months of clearing the streets and they have a massive safe zone to farm, defend and live etc. They can't swim right?
