Whoever put the wormhole near Saturn, I don't think "they" ever intended us to start populating new worlds on the other side. None of those planets were meant for life.
The stupid, vain, desperate humans took the wormhole as a chance to start ruining other planets.
But I think the real intent of the wormhole was to lead us to a blackhole, so we could understand and analyze (and maybe even send a crazy person into it) to give us a better understanding of gravity.
