    If your Apple computer is broken, and say your hard drive needs to be replaced. You take it to Apple's "Genius Bar", in addition to paying for a new hard drive and labor, they will extort you for more money, and hold your old hard drive for ransom. They'll tell you that they're gonna recycle it, but for an extra hundred dollars, you can keep your old hard drive. BUT WAIT!!! You've already paid for it, yet Apple policies is that they get to keep the left overs.
