    So... Russian criminals steal a gazillion passwords/data from any number of site targets and we, the gullible users, are not allowed to know which companies were exploited to avoid further exploits.

Russian criminals steal a gazillion passwords/data from any number of site targets and, to save their own asses, those companies have demanded they be kept secret with flimsy reasonings to avoid lawsuits and embarrassment and, drum roll pls... to allow them to take their sweet ass time to maybe, maybe not **begin applying the required fixes and security protocols to keep our information safe.

    **likely warned by whitehats of vulnerabilities way ahead of time; promptly ignored warnings because effort/cost; let's just wait this out; not overly concerned about user data anyway
