Peter Schwartz's response is, for the most part, one of the bluntest and — dare I say it? — truest cold analyses of this quagmire that I think I've ever read.

I think where I veer from him, in only a small sense, is his claim that the Israel situation is no different from a litany of other war-mongering actors on the world stage. Whilst he does ultimately go on to (rightfully) include the US and the UK in the list, I think our distinction is because we view Israel as being more of the first world-club of nations, ‘one of our own’, ostensibly above such barbarism.
For much the same reasons, the UK of yesteryear was held in low regard for its activities in Ireland, particularly to that nation's American diaspora power base...
