A lot of kids these days are abandoning rock music for electronic or simply staying home. It's hard to remember the last time there was a band that felt like they were really doing something new and exciting. Maybe Animal Collective was the last one that was really innovative.
A lot of big bands these days are just making money off a legacy from years or even decades ago. They release an album every few years which isn't really that good, and then go on a tour where they charge $100 a ticket.
