Despite being a persistent world game with MMO elements, both Bungie and Activision have stated that, unlike a typical MMO gmae, there will be no subscription fee for Destiny. There has been no confirmation either way about the presence of microtransactions in-game, but Bungie has stated that even if microtransactions are present, they will not be "pay-for-power" or "nickel and dime" schemes that confer an advantage upon players that pay extra."
When Infinity Ward sued Activision over the Modern Warfare 2 royalties a very early version of the Bungie-Activision contract was presented as court evidence. It detailed the 10 year plan for Destiny, with a game every 2 years plus a expansion every 2 years as well in between.
Although it's a bit shitty to announce two DLCs before releasing the game, sadly it's becoming business as usual. But the game will NOT have a monthly fee, so don't spread FUD around.
