Btw, I'm sure when I overcharge my laptop it messes with its cycle count.
Each time you drain and charge a battery is 1 cycle, you can view a batteries cycle count in 'About This Mac/More Info/System Report/Power'
For example mine is
Health Information:
Cycle Count: 1230
Condition: NormalAnd its my second battery since 09. So will need replacing soon. But yes, the point I was making was that I'm convinced over-charging runs up the cycle count more than it should, so "over-charging" without a battery could have a similar effect somehow on your Logic Board seen as that is currently taking the cycle count I guess?
In short, you're putting a job on the Logic board that it shouldn't have to do, you're stressing it out and it possibly is the reason why it blacks out.
