Think you should get a battery and see if that makes a difference as you will need one anyway. They are only around £35 on eBay for an official one.
When charging your MBP the light is orange, and when the battery is full the light on the charger goes green. To have it constantly plugged in so its always on green is probably not good for the Logic board and could be causing over-heating as suggested above.
