The tips in the US are just ridiculous. An entire industry expects you to pay waiters instead of the boss paying his employees. I agree with tipping WHEN I liked the service as a "thank you, I liked your service, here's a little extra for being a nice person". I can't understand the obligatory tip.
Why the fuck should I pay more for you to do your job?

    • it's just culture, and your outrage is how we feel about people not tipping outside the USmonospaced
    • also, it almost guarantees good service, and when you leave a small or no tip, it's a clear messagemonospaced
    • If the waiter worked without tips, they have less motivation to do really well, methinksmonospaced
    • I didn't say against tips in general, only to something mandatory.ESKEMA
    • Agree Eskemaset
    • It's not mandatory if the service is bad. It's expected if the service is decent.monospaced
    • "If the waiter worked without tips, they have less motivation to do really well"
...just like in Japan. Oh wait.
