thanks for all of the replies folks... appreciate it.
i guess, in short - it can't be done within a pdf format - but can be done with a little compromise. let's see what they say !
***what they will actually probably say is "can't you just use the 'pageflip' button... you know the one? it's next to the 'make the logo bigger' button on your keyboard!"***
