Hit up frenchman street. Burbon street is where tourists aka barely funcitoning drunks hangout. frenchman is where all the good music is.
as for food, tons of poboys (parkway tavern, Parasols, Domilise), muffaletta from central grocery, charbroiled oysters at dragos,
bands to see:
new orleans jazz vipers although i think they are called kotton mouth kings
washboard chaz
rebirth brass band
dirty dozen brassbanddba and spotted cat are my favorite bars
another thing to remember is that if you are at a place and not feeling it, ask for a togo cup and head out to the next place
