I stayed there only a couple of months but I loved Singapore.
As for the lifestyle it depends of what you want ; if you want to live in modern and expensive condos, and spend most of your time in high class restaurant etc...and stay only with the other overpaid expats then it will be expensive and just like if you were in any other city. If you live more like a local, get a room in a HDB, eat at food courts and have everyone's activities, then it's cheap and pretty great.
