Taco Bell Diner Assaulted for Not Saying Excuse Me After Burping
Taco Bell is no place for forgetting your manners: A patron of the fine dining establishment told police he was choked and struck with a chair on Sunday for failing to say excuse me after belching.According to the Smoking Gun, twenty-year-old Isaiah Morris said he and a friend were enjoying their lunch in a Tega Cay, S.C. Taco Bell when a man interrupted to ask if Morris "had just belched and not said excuse me."
A confused Morris asked the man to repeat himself. That, apparently, set the man off.
Morris said the man picked up a chair and struck him in the arm, then grabbed his throat and tried to head-butt him.
A worker at the restaurant intervened, and the suspect fled in a white vehicle, believed to be a pick-up truck.
Responding officers noted a redness around Morris' throat and an abrasion on his arm. The case, though, is short on leads; the Taco Bell manager informed police that "he did not believe that the surveillance cameras were able to record the incident." The Tega Cay police department has administratively closed the case pending any new information.
