Yeah, what I've done is different. I've masked the filter, not the layer. I just want some parts of it blurry.
Imagine your screenshot, but I've applied some masking to the actual filter, not the layer. (so I've clicked the little white box to the left of "smart filters" and drawn in black on that mask)
FFS basically I'm trying to work properly with masking for once, as I'm working with low-res images and want to be able to swap them for high-res at the last minute.
I honestly think it can't be done. WTF Adobe?
