alright well, here's some fun things:

not sure if the http://thebelmontgoats.org/ will be moved out to lents / i-205 by then , but there's a lot down the street from me where a herd of goats has been residing for a year and it's a really rad thing to go and play with them. there's also a super friendly chicken.

in less "portlandia" vibes, powell's books is a must. it's the largest independent book store in the west coast (possibly us?) and is worth a venture through.

if you're into records at all there's tons of stores, but i won't break down what is worth what just yet.

if you're up late and stoned, devils dill (www.devilsdill.com) is 5pm-3am late night amazing sandwich delivery; always good if you're partying and need to prevent a hangover.

if you have a car and some time, head east on 84 for about 45 minutes to scope multnomah falls. there's also some good scenic spots along the way of the columbia river.

first thursday, as mentioned above, is good for an art walk but i don't know if it's running / popular right now (winter means it'll likely be wet out). but that whole downtown area does have more than a couple galleries, however the quality of art is hit or miss.

ground kontrol, on couch (pronounched "cooch") and fifth is a bar+arcade+showspace; across the street is upper playground with the 50/24 gallery (SF based, but this one is the PDX branch). some decent eats around that spot.

that's all i can think of for now. i've yet to go see that bacon but it's probably worth the trip.

    • I live a block away from Devil's Dill. Good stuff. Oh, and LARDO. Definitely LARDO.Douglas
