I personally think Facebook's acquisition will deter many new Whatsapp users in the future and that something else will take its place. Something completely free also as IOS users still need to pay that initial 69p. Which is not much but when there are free alternatives without the 'Facebook owns your messages' policy then users will head there instead.
I am happy for the founders as they had a major Win here. But the younger generations are already into other messaging apps that will replace Whatsapp. Not sure it was the smartest purchase long term.
