"Once wifi is everywhere" is a long way off. WhatsApp's greatest utility is for long distance and international use, which means very different schedules and availability of public wifi.

There are also a dozen programs just like it, including Skype (Microsoft) and Facebook's own standalone messenger, and some places are dominated by an app other than WhatsApp.

    • Wifi everywhere is not that far off at all.set
