Celsestino, about 75km north of Mazatlan has 2 really good spots, Milagros and Tiburons and 1 EPIC spot called Patoles. Patoles has issues with Maz trying to take over the land from the locals there so they hired the cartel to guard it. I've been there a few times, i can get in because my father in law (or ex) lives in that town, that place is no joke, like 3 minute long rides, a fuckin dream. I wouldn't doubt it being the best surf spot in Mexico, but there's a lot of stories like guys getting their waves shot at with AK47's n shit, tires getting slashed, things like that. its really hard to get to unless you have a 4x4 or a quad, I take a side by side, theres a surf camp (not sure the name) thats exclusive to that spot, they take you there in boats, its based in a small town 10km south of Celestino, i hear the owner of that camp is the one responsible for surfers getting fucked with there, dude acts like he owns it, if you want to go there, find his camp and go with him he'll treat you good as long as your paying, hes American btw.

theres another surfcamp right in front of the other 2 spots

if you go there tell Jeff moldy sent you

Right next door to Cardon is a cozy little place I like to stay at because its less fancy, more traditional Mexican bungalow beach style.

Celestinos a nice little town, I doubt there's more than 200 locals living there. theres not even a grocery store in that town, just a couple little marts people made out of part of their homes.

Sea of Cortez surf is bigger in the summer, its flat right now, 2'-3' its wake boarding with a pink bunny suit season
