Finally discovered why my PS4 sounds like a jet-engine. Turns out its the vertical stand causing the problem. Having it attached to the console seems to be covering one of the side vents, not allowing the console to suck in enough air.
Removed the stand, placed it horizontally and bazinga! The noise level has reduced... a lot!
Moral of the story, don't bother with shitty accessories that you don't really need.

- From what I've been reading, seems like some consoles are louder than others. Look of the draw I guess. But at least this fix seems to work.zombee
- yeah I read other people talking about the console making more noise being verticalernexbcn
