    what set said.

    i use it a lot to keep in touch with acquaintances with whom i don't necessarily have a personal relationship. i follow a lot of local/community businesses; bike shops, restaurants, delis, etc. places i go on a regular bases. i also find it very handy for staying in the know of what is going on in my community and city... i follow municipal ward councilors, community improvement and safety groups, swell forecasters that also let me know what's happening at local beaches, local art and entertainment promoters. the list is endless.

    i do find that quality control is essential, otherwise you get bombarded with useless shit you don't want to sift through. i keep my follow list relevant and regularly edit it. if someone posts a lot of shit often, they're out.
