Most people forget that EVERYTHING depends on point of view. Thanks to Hitler and French preoccupation with WWII, Syrians could upraise against the FRENCH occupiers and kick them out. So as far as Syrians are concerned, Hitler and WWII was very positive for that country.
Moreover the simple "who won or lost the war" is such a false approach. For instance during WWI Germany LOST in the west but WON in the east. Crap like that, the constantly changing perspective on the events, is such a bread&butter of history that anyone who thinks in simplistic terms of B&W is a naive buffoon.
