    West Indian Day Parade preparation in Crown Heights Brooklyn. This hood is thumpin. Right outside my building a bunch of dudes have been building an 18 wheeler flat bed FULL of speakers and at 4am tonight the J'ouvert Parade kicks off with people dancing in the streets with steel drums, soca, and calypso. Jerk chicken, reggae, and a ton of people with flags are EVERYWHERE. This weekend is usually marked with shootings and stabbings but for the most part it's a glorious celebration of caribbean culture.
