To echo mg33:
You also usually never see a shoe box until it's being put in your bag. Your eyes do the buying when it's on the wall, shelf, table, and your body does the buying when you try them on. A nice shoe box is a nice to have, but it's not a necessity.
The other thing I can see is that they are generally uniform. Not saying a Vans box lines up with a Cole Haan box, but they are an expected design that stacks and fits in a bag together. If I go to the store and buy two pairs, I now have one box that is the bag, and another inside of a bag.
Also, this site is worse than Shark Tank.
I love it and hate it though.
