Personally, I find all this fascinating as competition is truly changing the markets and design. With the iPod, no one came up with something that was as good. iPhone started the same way, but the competition wasn't asleep this time (thanks to Google's desire to rule the world).
MS has done a superb job, as far as design goes, shame they fell asleep at the wheel and came to the game so late. It'd be a different game altogether if they were 2 years earlier.
