Overall, I love the iOS interface, and I'm not _too_ scared of what Ives will do with iOS7.

That having been said, lock screen notifications — the notifications functionality in general, really — are as useless as a marzipan dildo.

A few years ago, Teehan+Lax had done a mock-up of what their best-case scenario for the lock screen would be:

For a time, the dude who runs Cydia was going to develop it for jailbroken devices, but it went pear-shaped.

Anyway, the point is, looking at that PS comp now, I still think it would be the single-most useful new feature for iOS, and I dearly wish Apple overhauls notifications to look and behave like what T+L proposed.

    • good idea, great idea. i still like my notifications hidden. :Ddoesnotexist
    • Well, obviously, the user should have the freedom/option of hiding them.Continuity
    • I am always concerned on how apple always decides what it wants you to access.yurimon
    • i like that they have an opinion about it, most don't. they just give you everything without thinking about it.doesnotexist
    • I like notifications, and they can be turned off. Whats the problem again?CygnusZero4
    • There'll be less skeuomorphism.see_thru
