I went with PeruTreks to hike the Inca Trail. Is that what you're referring to as the "tourist trail?" Inca trail was amazing with lots of serene time with no one in sight. Super powerful. But i can see you wanting to get away from that too. There alot of people at times. Stayed at Amaru Hostel in Cusco before and after, which was nice. The Radison in Lima was very plush for the money. Highly recommend it. One thing i would say is take a plunge with public transportation, if you're not a mark. So much cheaper. and you get to see a side of the city most people foreigners don't. Have a great trip!

    • I already decided on Cordillera Huayhuash. Inka trail will be my next trip.zaq
