I love how anti-gay people try to work that angle that chuches and religious figures will be forced to do anything as a result of any gay rights legislation being proposed right now.

    • Yes, marrying gays at gunpoint! Those faggots all carry guns, I guess.Josev
    • i think what American churches are scared of is losing tax exempt status due to discriminationlocustsloth
    • Umm, no gay marriage would EVER be administered in a church or by a religious figure.monospaced
    • Meaning that if the churches discriminate (don't allow SSM's) they'll have to pony up a bunch of money.locustsloth
    • Also, the church has no monopoly on marriage, despite what they might think.monospaced
    • which they should if they want the ability to exclude anyonelocustsloth
    • i feel like a lot of steam would be taken out of the anti-gay marriage argument if churches felt like they were safe from taxationlocustsloth
    • taxationlocustsloth
    • churches ARE safe from taxationmonospaced
    • what i mean is if they were assured continued exemption even if they refused to perform gay marriageslocustsloth
    • Because you KNOW someone will bring a lawsuit or civil action against some church for refusing.locustsloth
    • But if churches have protection against such actions, one of the legs they stand on (though rarely mention) will crumplelocustsloth
    • Not that they'd all of a sudden endorse gay marriage, but they might not fight AS hardlocustsloth
    • I don't think any gay people would want a wedding in a place that doesn't want them there. There are alternatives.monospaced
    • you'd be surprisedlocustsloth
    • you're probably rightmonospaced
