yes, for various reasons (e.g. colonialism, dominance, fear, exploitation, theft of resources etc.) the military industrial complex has been a sinkhole for taxpayers money and by extension a hot-bed of technological innovation.
millions of dead people is not a commendable or justifiable outcome of any innovation or R&D programme.
just because that's the ways it is doesn't mean we have to accept that's the way it should be.
