"I remember a comic strip I read as a teen that warned me not to expect success through doing all the right things. In the strip’s first panel a dashing young buccaneer slayed a couple of castle drawbridge guards. The subsequent panels showed the buccaneer bursting in to the castle and fighting off defender after defender as he advanced up the stairs to where the beautiful princess is being held against her will by an equally dashing other young man, but who is evil. Having made his way to the top the first young man thrusts his sword at the evil young man who dodges successfully. The evil young man runs his sword through the buccaneer’s heart who falls off the stairs and dies on the floor. The comic strip ended with the young princess falling in love with the evil young man."
