mono, i think you are confusing atheist with agnostic.
An agnostic chooses not to believe in any religion, because they acknowledge that nothing can be truly known aside that which can be discerned from the material world. An agnostic's belief, in essence, is "i don't know".
Atheists, in order to assert, unequivocally, that there are NO gods, have to BELIEVE that, because they cannot prove the absence of a supernatural force that steers humanity.

    • I'm not confused. But thanks! :Dmonospaced
    • An agnostic can also see some wisdom in all belief systems.ETM
    • An atheist starts from a logical point that the world is what it is, humans created the concept of god so it's up to the believers to prove it.BaskerviIle
    • prove their point. Atheism is actually poorly named, it's odd to define yourself by what you don't believe in.BaskerviIle
    • by the same token I'm 'a' a lot of things. Like I'm adruggist etc. Better not to reference all the things you don't do and define yourself by the things you do doBaskerviIle
    • yourself by the things you do doBaskerviIle
