First off, I followed the tonymacx86 guide to building a hackintosh. It was pretty painless, and there's pretty good support for any hiccups you run into. Any problems I had were because I was stupid, not because it's that tricky. Here's the guide I used: http://tonymacx86.blogspot.ca/se… (I did the Ivy Bridge CustoMac Pro Build).
The cost of this set up is about $1710 + tax + shipping on Newegg.
