The story didn't follow through on its own promises. Interstellar flight and routine planetary terraforming ... in 75 years from now. I was already scoffing. The characters were acting entirely irrationally the whole time, which is unbelievable for a space crew, so I knew the film wasn't taking itself seriously anymore. It felt rushed and promise after promise of great plot-lines that never developed or concluded. The only real theme was stupid dumb faith which held strong until its grand finale in the final scene. Yes, it was beautiful, yes the sci-fi concepts employed are epic in scale, but this scratched the surface but never got to the meat. It was frustrating, to say the least.
