To all of the qube parents, you have got to talk to your kids about suicide. Obviously it's an age-appropriate topic and it's a pretty heavy subject to bring up with a kid, but the fact is, it's a reality and something that might help keep a distraught teen grounded.
At our house, we treat it like sex, drugs, safety, etc.—no one wants to talk about these things all the time, but it's brought up often enough that it's not some awkward, stumbling discussion. Kids need to know that if they start thinking crazy stuff, it's nothing most teens don't have cross their minds, but it is just that—crazy stuff. Give it some distance; find someone to talk with.
Damn. My kid's about the same age as that boy. Heartbreaking.
