  In the original,
  what was the alien doing laying there sideways in the escape shuttle? ...
  to me it looked as if it is in a sleep state ....
  was it awake and hiding? why didn't it lunge at Ripley?
  was it waiting for Ripley to go into hyper-sleep? and then attack her

  • I always figured it was smart enough to know it needed to stow away to survive and was trying to hide.ETM
  • Maybe trying to enter a sort of stasis sleep or hibernation itself, hence the slugishness.ETM
  • Might also not wanted to kill Ripley (either for food later, for piloting or propagation) but somehow felt it's hand was forced.ETM
