I have used Lemonstand on 3 stores so far and I'm coming away from Magento. It absolutely rocks I recommend it.
Just keep in mind that any developer you ask is going to tell you the solution they're most familiar with is the best. They want your money. Of course they will say that.
Lemonstand is a new player and not all developers are familiar with it yet. That's OK, cuz there is a ton of work in it for me right now!
It kills Shopify in almost every way in my opinion. The only thing Shopify has on it is that Shopify doesnt really NEED customizations to get running. Jane Doe selling purses can some set up a site using a template. LemonStand requires more setup, but is capable of a LOT more than Shopify, plain and simple.
