It's not so much global warming as mass climate change.
The extreme's are getting more extreme. 3 years ago Melbourne had the hottest day ever for a capital city in Australia - 46.4ÂșC, but the last two summers are far wetter, windier and cooler than normal.
Deforestation is a major cause of the problem. There is less shade in summer allowing the land to heat far faster in some areas causing greater turbulence in the atmosphere - aka high winds. Lack of forests also contribute to poor soil quality and are a contributing factor to flooding as the soil becomes less absorbent and the amount of runoff increases.
